Born in a family of renowned glove makers, Inès Lafarge was immersed in her childhood in a universe of fashion, noble materials and colors. Inès was influenced by the courage and tenacity of her mother. By observing her, conquer ing Parisian fashion houses Inès acquired the sense of irreproachable quality, which is essential to the manufacture of the Douce Gloire designs.

Douce Gloire is also the story of an meeting.

In 2006, Inès traveled to Nepal to meet the suppliers of her family’s glove business. Passionate about travel since her youth, she discovered not only a country but also the traditional craftsmanship of cashmere production, whose potential she recognized.

Inès was able to put her experience and her love of fine materials and colors to good use. Following this trip, a wonderful opportunity presented itself. She was in contact with a buyer from a major Parisian department store who decided to place her trust in her.

It was her first order !

We are committed to selecting high-quality threads and making no compromises when it comes to materials. What could be more important for an accessory worn around the neck than the material it’s made of and the color that will flatter the face?

Committed to impeccable quality, we take the time to oversee the production of our creations on-site in the Nepalese workshops, thereby ensuring the working conditions of the women and men employed there.

CASHMERE

Softness, lightness, and warmth are the qualities that define the elegance of products made from pure cashmere. Cashmere is a fine undercoat harvested from a breed of goats Capra Hircus that live at altitudes of over 3,000 meters. The undercoat is then cleaned, spun, and hand-woven using traditional Nepalese craftsmanship. The down is then transformed into the exceptionally fine yarn known as cashmere. The raw fabric is enhanced with colors and patterns that we create in our studio.

From grays to glossy reds and saturated blues, as well as python and Jacquard patterns, we have developed a range of exclusive shades, the result of extensive collaboration with Kathmandu’s master colorists.
